It's the return of a customer favourite!
There are some food and wine pairings that seem to have been preordained by a higher power. Sauternes and foie gras, goats cheese with Sancerre, Stilton and Vintage Port are all outstanding examples but that's not where this evening will be going.
An equally exalted match is the classic British fish & chips combined with a delicious glass of Champagne of sparkling wine. The homely, simple pleasures of softly flaking white fish encased in crispy golden batter, accompanied by salty, savoury chips are taken to another level when put together with the crisp citrus notes and naturally refreshing style of a really good sparkling wine. Not to mention that the bubbles and acidity that a good fizz brings to the table make short work of the richness of the food, keeping the palate yearning for more.
We'll taste our way through 6 world class fizzes then, after a vote, we'll settle back to enjoy the winning two wines alongside fish and chips from the excellent Dovehouse Fish Bar

When you utter the words 'Portugal' and 'wine' in the same breath people's thoughts immediately turn to Port. I mean, how can you not, it's even there in the name of the country. And this is a shame because, as delicious as Port is, it overlooks the fabulous variety of other wines that Portugal has to offer.
With a diverse range of geography and climate, not to mention something like 250 indigenous grape varieties, Portuguese winemakers have a huge palate to work from to craft fantastic and individual wines that carry a stamp that is uniquely Portuguese.
We'll be sampling a mix of white and red wines, there'll even be something fizzy thrown into the mix.

High on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, 50 km from Cape Town, lies the family-owned Delheim Wines. Here the Sperling family has been making wines of character for many decades.
Not only will be joined by Johnny Bingham, from their UK importers, we will also have a member of the Delheim winemaking team with us electronically as we explore (and taste!) their varied and award winning range.
