2025 TASTINGS

Friday 27th June - Local Breweries SOLD OUT

7:00pm - 8.30pm

£20 per person

While the Midlands has said goodbye to a number of big name breweries the past decade or so has seen an explosion in the number of smaller, quality focussed independent brewers. Ranging from the traditional to the experimental our local breweries offer something for everyone.

This tasting will explore the full range of beers available from our local breweries.  As far as what is local?  We've settled on the arbitrary (but we think entirely reasonable) measure of breweries that you could cycle to on a warm spring afternoon, enjoy a satisfying pint, and make it home in time for tea.

NB: No physical tickets will be sent out. Your name will be added to the event guest list held at the store.

Tasting tickets are non-refundable, transferable up to 14 days prior to the event.

Friday 18th July - English Wines

7:00pm - 8.30pm

£25 per person

Winemaking has been happening sporadically in the UK since the Romans took a fancy to westward expansion, some two millennia ago.  But the production of seriously good wine is a much more recent event.

Nowadays you only need to look a the number of serious wine producers, especially from Champagne, who are investing in English vineyards to know that English wine is really making its mark.

We'll kick off with some of the fizzes that are proving the equal of anything the rest of the world can provide.  After that we'll enjoy some of the fragrant and elegant whites and roses that England can produce, followed up by a red or two.

NB: No physical tickets will be sent out. Your name will be added to the event guest list held at the store.

Tasting tickets are non-refundable, transferable up to 14 days prior to the event.

Friday 12th September - Women Winemakers

7:00pm - 8.30pm

£20 per person

The wine world has produced some legendary female figures.  The likes of the Widow Barbe-Nicole Clicquot (1777-1866), and Lily Bollinger (1899-1977), exerted huge influence on the Champagne industry in their times.  But regrettably, until recently, the wine industry has remained something of a boys' club.

Happily this is all changing and recent years have seen a flood of women taking control in the winery and the boardroom.  We'll be joined by Johnny Bingham, from specialist importers Delibo.  Johnny's portfolio includes a number of these inspirational winemakers and he'll be introducing us to their fabulous wines from around the globe.

NB: No physical tickets will be sent out. Your name will be added to the event guest list held at the store.

Tasting tickets are non-refundable, transferable up to 14 days prior to the event.
