L'Ermite d'Auzan Epicuria Rouge / 2022 / 75cl

Château l’Ermite d’Auzan’s Epicuria Rouge takes Mourvèdre back to its stony roots, grown on ancient rolled Durance pebbles that pre‑date even the Rhône’s course. That deep geological imprint, combined with a year’s fermentation and ageing in a large wooden vat, gives the wine a grounded, quietly powerful frame. The nose is wonderfully layered: tobacco leaf, warm spice and ripe dark fruit, all lifted by a subtle touch of fine oak.

On the palate it’s dense yet energetic, the concentration never tipping into heaviness thanks to a streak of freshness that keeps everything vivid. Crunchy dark fruit drives the core, wrapped in Mourvèdre’s natural muscle and savoury undertone. It’s a bold, characterful red with real vigour—structured, expressive and unmistakably shaped by its stones.
