Bain's Shiraz Cask 10 Year Old Single Grain Whisky / 1l

Founded in 2009 at The James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington, Bain’s comes from South Africa’s long‑established home of grain whisky, where production has been continuous since the late 1800s. The distillery’s hallmark is its use of 100% South African yellow maize and a warm maturation climate that accelerates flavour development, giving Bain’s whiskies their signature sweetness and supple texture. This 10‑year‑old release is finished in Shiraz casks, adding a distinctly Cape‑influenced twist to the house style.

The whisky opens with ripe red berries, dark plum and a touch of cocoa, layered over Bain’s familiar vanilla and honeyed grain. The palate is smooth and generous, showing blackberry compote, baking spice and a subtle tannic grip from the Shiraz wood, which adds structure without drying the whisky out. A final lift of sweet oak and soft fruit carries through to a rounded, warming finish.
