Le Petit Cheval, Chateau Cheval Blanc / 2004 / 75cl
Petit Cheval is produced from the same terroir and varietals as its big brother and is positioned as a different wine from the Château. First produced in 1988, Petit Cheval belongs to the exclusive circle of ‘second wines’ within the prestigious ‘Club of Nine’. Its unanimously recognised quality has brought this wine exponential notoriety and endowed it with the status of a great wine in its own right.
Le Petit Cheval 2004 shows mature, polished fruit—cherry, plum and a touch of cassis—sitting in a smooth, settled frame. There’s gentle cedar, dried herb and a little warm spice, all delivered with an easy, unforced feel that reflects its age and pedigree without drifting into anything showy.
The palate is calm and well‑composed, with relaxed fruit, fine tannins and a light tobacco note adding depth. It finishes clean and steady, offering that quiet, confident charm you get from a well‑made, fully evolved Saint‑Émilion.
