Oliver Zeter Syrah / 2020 / 75cl

It's not that long ago that Syrah was dismissed as an exotic wine in the Pfalz.  More recently however, thanks to the efforts of growers like Oliver Zeter, it has fully established itself in the region.  And in addition to its charm it has also shown that it can bring a real sense of the terroir to the wines that it makes.

A combination of restricted yields and late harvesting are the foundations of the excellent Syrahs that Oliver is making.  For the standard Syrah the wine is fermented classically in wood on the skins.  For the most part his is followed by 12 months in large oak foudre and used barriques.  A small part was kept in stainless steel to bring a spicy freshness to the wine.

Showing wonderful notes of blackberry, thyme, white pepper, some smoked bacon and nougat with a charming juiciness and lots of intensity.
