Pierre Martin Sancerre 'Les Culs de Beaujeu' / 2021 / 75cl

Pierre Martin is the 4th generation to take charge of the family legacy, assuming control from his father in 2004. Yves (who is semi-retired) is still alive, but this is very much Pierre's show now, with a working total of 18 hectares. Few would contest the notion that the lieux-dits of Les Culs de Beaujeu and La Côte des Monts Damnés demand inclusion as two of Sancerre's unofficial Grand Crus. The former is a steep south-east slope that orientates itself directly towards the butte of Sancerre. Here, Martin owns 0.7 hectares of vines planted in 2004. With such limited production, the wine is aged in five year old 300 litres hogsheads.

Pleasant nose, delicate and elegant revealing hues of white fruits and flowers. Full bodied. Well balanced revealing complexity and minerality. Well integrated oak.
