Raats Family Wines, founded in 2000 by Bruwer Raats in Stellenbosch’s Polkadraai Hills, has built its reputation on a laser‑focused commitment to Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. The Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2024 comes from vineyards averaging over 40 years of age, rooted in decomposed dolomite granite soils that naturally deliver purity, freshness and finely etched minerality. The wine is crafted from two components—50% fermented and matured in French oak, 50% in stainless steel—before being blended and left on the lees for added texture and finesse. 

The 2024 release opens with a complex, quietly expressive nose of quince, white peach, yellow apple and subtle fenugreek spice, all lifted by a clear mineral thread. The palate is delicate yet intensely detailed, carrying stone‑fruit richness in a fine, peach‑melba texture, balanced by zesty lemon, ripe nectarine and a clean, chalk‑edged finish. Exceptionally poised and long, it shows the hallmark elegance of old‑vine Chenin from Polkadraai Hills—fresh, refined and deeply rooted in its terroir.
