Eastern Europe has a winemaking pedigree stretching back into the depths of pre-history.  The greats of Greek and Roman literature, such as Homer and Pliny, celebrated their wines. It can't be a coincidence that there are legends placing the birthplaces of Bacchus and Dionysus in what is now Eastern Europe.

However the twentieth century was a hard time for their wine industries.  The fall of the Iron Curtain brought the wine industry to its knees.  But wine has deep roots in these countries and dedicated wine-lovers have been restoring their heritage over the past few decades.  We are now benefitting from their years of work, with world class wines being produced all across Eastern Europe.

This tasting will be a chance to get a snapshot of what's available.  Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania will be front and centre, but Georgia and others will be making an appearance to.

NB: No physical tickets will be sent out. Your name will be added to the event guest list held at the store.
